Transportation of wind turbine components

Oversize vehicles transporting turbine components commenced deliveries on 5 December 2016. Approximately 700 oversize loads of turbine components will be travelling from Newcastle, via the New England Highway to the White Rock Wind Farm project site. These permitted and fully escorted loads will follow a set route and schedule.

Please see here for the indicative schedule for deliveries.

Please see here for the delivery route map near Glen Innes.

Alternative access route for oversize vehicles via Ben Lomond

A further route option for over-size vehicles is being considered for access to the southern parts of the project site. Consultation with local councils and RMS is currently underway.

The route being considered is approximately 32km from New England Highway to Kelleys Road, Maybole. The route exits the New England Highway to the north of Llangothlin and continues approximately 13km on Ben Lomond Road then on Maybole Road for a further 19 km before turning into Kelleys Road. It crosses three Local Government Areas, Glen Innes Severn, Inverell and Armidale. The route is being considered for over-dimensional vehicles only and is regarded as more suitable than the currently available access route.  If selected this route would start to be used from May 2017.
